Our
Methods
To
provide
the
best-possible
care,
Cahaba
Hospice’s
staff
researches
the
patient’s
disease
history,
current
physical
condition
and
life
expectancy.
Our
team
then
meets
with
the
patient
and
their
family
to
discuss
our
vision,
the
patient’s
comfort
level
and
the
family’s
expectations.
From
this
discussion
a
personal
care
plan
for
each
patient
is
developed.
The
primary
caregiver
in
the
home
(a
must
for
hospice
care)
is
then
trained
for
their
participation
in
the
patient’s
care.
Caregivers
are
usually
expected,
in
addition
to
providing
a
safe,
comfortable
environment,
to
assist
with
bathing,
feeding,
giving
medications
and
other
duties.
Our
Benefits
Cahaba
Hospice
offers
the
advantage
of
being
a
locally
owned
and
operated
business,
a
hometown
hospice.
The
entire
team
has
grown
up
in
Selma
and
therefore
has
established
relationships
with
local
doctors,
drug
stores,
hospitals,
nursing
homes
and
other
facilities.
Another
benefit
at
Cahaba
Hospice
is
the
extensive
experience
of
our
director
and
owner,
Barbara
Ware.
Barbara’s
nursing
background
gives
her
the
ability
to
communicate
with
medical
personnel
easily
and
effectively.
Also,
being
the
sole
owners,
Barbara
and
her
husband
Richard
have
the
authority
to
look
at
each
case
and
make
very
individual
decisions.
Because
of
this,
Cahaba
Hospice
can
accommodate
unique
circumstances
and
often
goes
above
and
beyond
traditional
hospice
care.
