I started Cahaba Hospice in 1996. While working as a critical care nurse in a hospital, I became aware of the immense need of hospice care in our community. I saw so many people who would have been much better off, much more comfortable, if they had been at home for their last days.

Witnessing this again and again led me to create a way for terminally patients to live out their days in comfort, dignity and privacy. Thus Cahaba Hospice was born.

Cahaba Hospice has grown slowly and carefully over the past six years, and we have chosen staff members that share our views on death and dying and our focus on the life remaining. Our staff has a deep understanding of the psychological aspects as well as the physical aspects of terminal illness.

Cahaba Hospice meets a patient’s physical needs, but at the same time, meets the spiritual and emotional needs that often become even more important at the end of life. We strive to give families needed direction in this difficult time and help them view their loved one as the same person they have always been so that they can enjoy their time left together.

The mission of Cahaba Hospice is to ensure quality of life and a comfortable, peaceful death for all patients receiving our care, and to provide support for their loved ones. We will serve everyone in our communities who needs and seeks our care, and we are dedicated to improving end-of-life care.

      Sincerely,
